For your consideration

Allow me to introduce myself...

Hello!

My name is Nick Horne, and I am incredibly grateful for one last opportunity to apply for the Pixar editing internship. As a recent graduate at Ringling College of Art and Design (class of 2024), I’ve been applying for years, hoping to earn a spot as one of Pixar’s interns. I’ve even had the privilege of visiting the studio twice, with Pixar veteran Bob Peterson as our host! Though it hasn’t been my time yet in previous years, I’m not giving up. I am an extremely proficient video editor with experience in AVID Media Composer. I have a deep understanding of story structure and character development that I have applied to all the projects that I have worked on that has made me a stand out in my educational and professional career. With praise by my professors and employers, I am confident in my storytelling capabilities and strongly believe that I can leverage this, and learn more, at this internship at Pixar.

I’ve always been deeply inspired by the values of impactful and relatable storytelling that Pixar represents. I’ve always dreamed of contributing to projects that leave a lasting impression on pop culture—creating lines people quote for years and stories that move audiences in ways that change their lives forever. I’ve been one of those people, from crying at Monsters, Inc. when I was three years old to being just as emotionally affected by modern classics such as Coco, Onward, and Elemental.

Quite frankly, I need to work in an office as creatively inspiring as the one I walked through last summer—and the summer before. It was incredible to see people working in crashed planes in the jungle, an underwater submarine, and even the streets of Chinatown! To be part of a team as creatively passionate as Pixar’s would bring out the best in my work, and I know it’s a place I could call home for a very long time.

I love working on all kinds of projects, but animation is my greatest passion. Whether it’s editing, sound design, or even voice acting, I always give 1000% because I believe in the emotional weight and impact these stories have on people. Pixar is at the forefront of that ideology, and I want in. I’m ready to do whatever it takes, and I hope you see that passion reflected in my portfolio.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,
Nick
